About Chilean Salmon
Mature salmon are carefully loaded into ‘well boats’ or totes full of clean seawater to keep the fish healthy and alive while they are delivered to processing facilities. Upon arrival, they are humanely processed under strict sanitary conditions, graded for quality and size, then packaged in preparation for transport to market. Careful and efficient supply chain logistics limit unnecessary movement and the time from harvest to processing.
Salmon can be shipped fresh, or processed further by filleting, flash freezing, or smoking. The fish are then typically packaged (in plastic or cardboard) to be sent to market.
